About us

VEGA-LIFE was founded in 1998 by Alex Blanker. Initially as a mail order company,
yet as of November 2008 VEGA-LIFE opened a store in Amsterdam, that has been prospering ever since. 

Through our VEGA-LIFE physical and online store we offer sustainable alternatives to products that are often produced with animal ingredients, and therefore cause animal suffering. Think of leather shoes, bags, clothing and cosmetics. These are all products that often rely on animal testing and animal ingredients.

We choose alternatives to leather products with great care, such as durable microfibers based on bio-poly oils, cork and Piñatex to name a few. We are always striving to find the most sustainable vegan brands to collaborate with.

For clothing we look at innovative brands, that use organic cotton and bamboo for example, causing the least harm to animals and the environment. 

Our beauty and wellness products are provided by organic and vegan companies only.

In addition we try to take the working conditions of the people who make our products into consideration. As we are located in The Netherlands, the local brands we work with are based in Europe, maintain high standards and offer a proper wage to their workers.

Everyone understands that in business, occasionally there are concessions to be made. But we at VEGA-LIFE have drawn a clear line; all the products we sell are completely free from animal ingredients, are not tested on animals and are manufactured under fair working conditions.
