LinkkensLightweight, comfortable and beautiful art-sneaker by Dutch brand Linkkens, featuring masterpiece The Big Wave, by Katsushika Hokusai*.

The printed fabric is made of recycled Ocean plastic from the Seaqual® initiative. This supports the global fight against ocean pollution by selling products made from recycled plastic. By buying SEAQUAL® YARN products, you are making an active contribution to cleaning up the oceans, because for every kilo of recycled yarn, approximately 1 kilo of waste is taken out of the oceans.

Local environmental alliances and other individuals collect all the trash they find in oceans, beaches and estuaries. The motto of the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE: "We don't look for materials to recycle, we recycle the materials we find."  This new and sustainable raw material, upcycled marine plastic gives plastic waste a meaningful use.

Underneath this fabric is a water-repellent and breathable layer made of onMicro®, this reproduces the properties of leather in a microfiber. It is washable, lightweight, antibacterial and produced environmentally friendly.

The lining is of the eco-friendly material onSteam®, an antibacterial microfiber, which feels like soft leather, is 100% breathable and has an absorbency of 8 times its own weight in water. Perfect as a lining for shoes.
OnSteam® is produced CO² neutral.

The sneaker has loose, very comfortable insoles that are easy to replace.

*Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese artist, ukiyo painter and graphic artist of the Edo period. Hokusai is best known for the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Fuji (c. 1831), which includes the internationally known print The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
The Great Wave off Kanagawa hangs in the Rijksmuseum. A high wave on the verge of overturning in a choppy sea with three rowboats with Mount Fuji in the background.
